To say I May Destroy You is critically acclaimed would be selling it short.īolu Babalola in a feature about Coel in Paper Magazine wrote that I May Destroy You is "this year's TV show of the year … Her storytelling is sharp, thoroughly formed and vibrant, intricately elegant in the way it takes us from light to dark". These are complex stories with lots of elements and our viewers can now choose to watch them on their terms." What do the reviews say? I found myself watching a few episodes and taking time to reflect before diving back in to finish. "… With the final episode of I May Destroy You airing in the US at the end of August we were able to offer all episodes at once. The next day she finds herself - in a haze - back at her writing, but she begins to realise that her drink was spiked the night before, and that she's been raped. In the first episode of I May Destroy You, we meet Arabella (Coel): a social-media-famous writer who, distracting herself from a frustrated attempt to meet a deadline for a novel draft, goes for a drink with a friend. Lifeline (24 hour crisis line): 131 114.I May Destroy You sounds like a horror film - what is it about?Ĭontent warning: this series includes graphic depictions and discussions of sexual assault. In the three years between Chewing Gum and I May Destroy You, Coel appeared in the USS Callister episode of Black Mirror, the Netflix musical Been So Long and the BBC2/Netflix show Black Earth Rising. I haven't seen Chewing Gum, but she still seems familiar … To really get to know Coel, we recommend this E. Shame on them, and shame on this industry for making these situations so blasé.Chewing Gum won Coel fame, critical acclaim and two BAFTA awards for acting and writing - though she later revealed the racist treatment she'd experienced and witnessed while making the series. I’ve lost respect for THQ Nordic as a publisher for not giving this team the proper time and budget to get this properly made. I’m not having a go, but seriously I would personally never leave a game like this. And Blackforests lack of passion to polishing this release speaks volumes. This game should’ve been a home run, and I’m worried that the poor to mixed reactions for this will kill any chance at seeing a proper third Destroy All Humans. As someone who only bought this because of the first remake being so good and because I never played the original DaH 2 I was so let down. But somehow this game is so buggy and unpolished still. The first one was a solid safe remake, they didn’t overstretch or try and re-imagine anything.ĭaH 2, should’ve been the same and it technically is they didn’t radically change anything from the original. I’m still disheartened by how the release for this remake played out. If you still want to get this game, I recommend buying from a keys website where you can obtain it for a low price. It’s a shame they have yet to fix these problems and still have the audacity to charge $40 for it. It’s sad this game is plagued by a plethora of issues because the core gameplay is gimmicky and fun. If you're considering or planning on purchasing this game, don't (at least not on the Xbox Series X I'm not sure if the screen tearing and pop-in issues are present on other platforms). It makes the game look incredibly ugly on occasions and is extremely distracting. Usually, when you first load into an area, you’ll see muddied-like objects, and then a few seconds later, the textures will load in. The texture pop-in isn’t a deal breaker, but it’s still worth mentioning. Getting all of the achievements was difficult because the enemies would sometimes clip inside of objects, preventing me from killing them and forcing me to reload from the last checkpoint. It's annoying, but you can avoid it by refreshing the game after an hour or two. The game crashed twice during my playthrough, and you'll know when it's about to crash since you'll only get around 15 frames per second. Most of the time it is consistent, but as you play, it worsens, and the longer you play, the more likely the game will crash. Secondly, the frame rate is occasionally unstable. This is my main complaint because you have to deal with it throughout the entire game. The screen tearing is horrible, and it becomes even worse when you're in the saucer. It costs $40 and is obviously not worth $40 in its current state, and given how long it's been out, I doubt the performance and issues will be addressed. I recently got this game for $10 on the Xbox Series X and completed all of the achievements in approximately 18 hours and 44 minutes. Other platforms may or may not have these issues. The quick answer is no, but for a more in-depth review, continue reading.
